PLANTING: Rate: 60 — 80 lbs. per
acre
PLANTING DATES:
October to November Southern region;
February to May — South, Midwest and Northeast.
Method: Plant into a
well-prepared firm seedbed that has been plowed and dragged to
remove all vegetation and debris from the site to eliminate
competition. Apply fertilizer during seedbed preparation to work it
into the soil. Broadcast seed evenly over area, drag, cover seed no
deeper than 3 4 inch. Good seed to soil contact is the key to a
successful food plot.
Fertility: Lime soil to 6.0 pH
and fertilize with 300 lbs/acre of Pennington Wild Game Fertilizer
(15-5-10) or similar fertililizer at planting. Pennington Wild Game
Fertilizer is specially formulated for wildlife plots as a slowly
released complete fertilizer.
FOR SUMMER FORAGE CONSIDER:
Pennington Deer or Turkey Mix
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION: Remember,
by planting this food plot mixture you are improving the quality of
all wildlife. Abundant forage and seeds will benefit all species of
wildlife including deer, turkey, dove. quail, rabbit, songbirds, and
many more. Pennington Seed Inc. recommends you plant a minimum of
2.5% of your wildlife habitat in supplemental food plots if you have
a light population of deer. lf your population is larger consider
planting up to 7% of your total acreage in food plots.
